The breath we take for granted …
Take a moment to notice your breathing … it’s ok, I’ll wait … how does it feel? Light … Soft … Like A friend …???
The breath… our dear breath … we take it for granted until life sends us a quiet jolt.
This week, news of Richard Branson’s wife's passing dominated social media.
If you don’t know who Richard Branson is, he’s the embodiment of adventure and audacity, a fire-sparked soul who somehow turned risk into empire. I admired that spirit long before I understood my own fire sign nature. I still remember reading Losing My Virginity, his autobiography, almost twenty years ago, devouring each page with excitement and eager to learn all his tips.
And yet… even with all his success, all the zeros in all the bank accounts… none of it could protect the body of the woman he loved.
This fascinates me every time, and at the end of the day, no matter who we are, we all live and die inside a body that needs tending and a mind that needs gentleness. Money can outsource tasks, but it cannot breathe for us.
Meditation Practice
Which brings me back to the breath — our oldest, most loyal companion … our best FRIEND!
Did you know we actually breathe in three different ways throughout the day?
✨ Controlled breathing — when we play conductor, deciding the length of each inhale and exhale, or holding our breath sometimes, like when we are at the dentist or doing some strenuous exercise at the gym - this one is me!
✨ Automatic breathing — when the body breathes here while the mind wanders off somewhere else entirely, planning dinner or reinventing our whole life in the shower!!!
✨ Inspired breathing — this one is my favourite. When we choose to breathe in peace and breathe out peace… inhale love, exhale love… inhale calm, exhale calm.
This is the moment we honour the Spirit that slips into our bodies with every breath.
Overall, this is how I breathe in my meditation practice — mostly conscious, present, listening… until I accidentally wander into a quirky conversation with myself inside my brain. (It happens. We’re human.)
Becoming aware of how you breathe during the day is essential if you want to create change.
I heard someone say yesterday, “ WHAT WE DON’T CHANGE, WE CHOOSE” - read that again, because it needs time to sink in.
If you’re new here, allow me to introduce myself: I’m a meditation teacher, inner work coach, energy healing facilitator and tarot adviser — yes, it’s a lot of words.
But what I really do is help women come home to their hearts.
To reconnect with their inner guidance and intuition.
To embody confidence, courage, and the quiet certainty that they are meant to do the things they came here to do.
One breath at a time.
One inspired inhale at a time.
Whenever you're ready, we begin again.
