How many times have you suffered because you believed people should behave a certain way, treat you a certain way, be more grateful or appreciate the things you do for them? In my case, many times in the past?
Our beliefs are the foundation of all our decisions. What’s more intriguing is that we are not even aware of our underlying beliefs.
Most of our beliefs are deeply ingrained in our subconscious mind. Note that 95% of our live is controlled by our subconscious mind and only 5% by our conscious mind. We only get to explore our beliefs when we slow down and take time for ourselves, i.e. coaching, therapy, meditation, prayer, walking in nature, spending quality time with ourselves.
This is not a practice most people are willing to do, especially when their life is “good “. They wait for something dramatic to happen in their life or simply to hit rock bottom and then they decide: Maybe my beliefs are not serving me and I’m kind of not quite ready, but still inclined to release “my shoulds” and my expectations from others.
