Declutter Like You Eat: One Bite at a Time

A new beginning

Spring is here… or almost here. You know that in-between moment when nature is stretching, yawning, and quietly making room for new flowers to bloom?

How does nature create space for newness?
By releasing what’s no longer needed. No drama. No overthinking. Just drop… and grow.

Humans, on the other hand, tend to find decluttering wildly overwhelming. One big reason? We try to declutter the entire house in one go. Big mistake. Rookie move.

Think about how you eat the food on your plate. Do you gobble everything down in one go, barely tasting it? Or do you take your time, savouring each bite and actually enjoying the meal? Maybe you even separate the plate in your mind, starting with what looks most delicious, then gently working your way through the rest.

Be part of your meal

Either way, there’s usually a rhythm to how we eat. And that rhythm says a lot about how we approach other things, too.

There’s a saying: How we do one thing is how we do everything.
So let’s apply that wisdom to decluttering. One bite at a time. No hustle, no frenzy. Just slow, intentional releasing. Keep what you find useful or beautiful. Let the rest go with a polite “thank you for your service.”

And yes… you knew I was going to go there 😄
Let’s talk about the mind.

In our minds and energy fields, we carry emotions, beliefs, and perceptions that expired ages ago. Yet somehow we’re still holding onto them unconsciously, not because something is wrong with us, but because we haven’t taken the time to open the cupboard and see what’s actually in there.

Physical cupboard.
Mental cupboard.
Energetic cupboard.

Some of it is dusty. Some of it is leaking energy. Some of it makes you think, Why on earth am I still carrying this?

If this year you want to create a better life for yourself, start by clearing the land first. You can’t build something new on top of what’s no longer useful. When a house is built, the first step is clearing the ground for a new foundation. You have the exact same opportunity.

You can do it now… or you can keep accumulating more stuff, physically and emotionally.

Declutter your wardrobe

For the record, decluttering comes very naturally to me. So naturally, in fact, that if my family can’t find something, they immediately assume I’ve “chucked it away.” (Even when I absolutely haven’t 😇)

I know it’s not easy for everyone. And that’s where I’d love to help by exploring why it feels hard and how to gently change your perception of it.

We can explore the cards for guidance, or I can ask you a few powerful questions that help reveal the root of holding onto things, beliefs, and draining emotions.

In very simple, no-fluff terms: meditation shifts your brain from beta (mind racing at 100 miles an hour) to alpha (calm, relaxed, receptive). And here’s the key thing: your heart can’t influence your mind while you’re stuck in beta. That connection happens in alpha.

Choosing to meditate with me for a month helps shift your energy and lower cortisol levels - the stress hormone.

Choosing a reading helps you see clearly what needs to go and what truly deserves to stay.
